戲曲理論的建立，顯示戲曲表演的發展與成熟，而不同時代關注的理論點不同，也呈現該時代的審美焦點。本課程從理論的「主題」導入，同時進行戲曲理論的原典研讀與討論。從古代的戲曲理論，可架構出戲曲元素的本質，同時審視時代特色的理論與實踐；並對照今日審美價值的改變，以作為未來戲曲創作與發展的參考。
The established theory of Chinese drama shows its maturity and its development. Throughout the Chinese history, based on each period's aesthetic point of view, different focus in Chinese drama theory were derived. This course will introduce you to different derived theories, and compare them versus the original study and discussion. We will discuss the foundations and elements of the ancient Chinese drama theory. We will also examine past derived theories and their practices, then compare them against today's standard. Once we have a comprehensive understanding of the past, and the present Chinese drama theory, we can use them as reference for future Chinese drama creation and theoretical development.
戲曲理論既有時代性，也有繼承性，總結前人的理論，亦能對當今的戲曲創作與理論提供重要的借鑑。本課程以系統化的論述，針對戲曲歷代理論發展的重點進行研讀，可加強同學戲曲學術理論的基礎，平衡中西戲劇理論課程的認知與重要性，增進戲曲歷史、美學、表演、創作等學術觀念的養成與深入探索的能力。The drama theory already has the contemporaneity, also has the
